The Vhorani were a race of legendary beings from ancient Vulcan mythology, said to have created the Vulcan people at Vorta Vor, the "Wellspring of Creation." The Vhorani then placed them on the planet Vulcan, so that, through war and strife, the extreme conditions would prepare them for their destiny.

These myths were revived around the Time of Awakening as a counterpoint to the philosophies of Surak, and would take root on Romulus following the exodus from Vulcan. (LUG RPG: The Way of Kolinahr: The Vulcans)

According to Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, "Vorta Vor" is the Romulan name for the planet the Vulcans called Sha'ka'ree. It is possible that there is an alternate name for the Vhorani as well.

The Vhorani were, in fact, the race of beings from the planet Arret, whose last survivors, Sargon, Thalassa, and Henoch were discovered by the USS Enterprise in 2269. (Star Trek: Pendragon: "Starkindler", TOS: "Return to Tomorrow")

The Vhorani were one of the elder offshoots of the Preservers, and continued their seeding program, beginning life not only on Vulcan, but several other worlds where Vulcanoid life would arise.

Eventually, a cataclysmic war on Arret decimated their civilization. While Sargon's group of survivors placed their consciousnesses into psionic receptacles, other groups fled the planet, leaving a trail of "seedlings" as they went. Mintaka III and Halana were such worlds.

In the late 24th century, Timothy Sinclair would uncover evidence of the Vhorani's migration. He published a paper on the subject in 2377, entitled From Arret to Mintaka: In the Path of the Vhorani. (PDN: "Another Time, Another Place", "Starkindler")
