"What We Did On Frontier Day" is the tenth fan film of the Star Trek Fan Audio Shared Timeline.
Summary
In this Fleetcom Retrospective, various officers and cadets from across the Federation recount their experiences surrounding the infamous events of Frontier Day, 2401...
Plot
The story is a Fleetcom Retrospective: a documentary series presented by Commodore Caitlyn Reade. The documentary states that ten years have passed since the events of Frontier Day 2401 (“to quote antiquity, a date that will live in infamy”), and purports to interview several Starfleet officers about their experiences.
Admiral Rion Harte explains Fleet Formation's intended utility. Other officers, including Commodore Erick Minard, Commander Edris Blackthorne, Dr Valen Gregory and Captain Michael Hunter speak about their perspectives and experiences. In her narration, Reade also touches upon the effect of Frontier Day on subsequent generations of cadets, speaking to Carys Harte, Eobard Minard and Thadeus Marx.
The focus shifts to Admiral Nolan Morr, who explains the disposition of Starfleet's Twelfth Fleet during the events of Frontier Day, and the choices he had to make as CO of that fleet. Captain Gabriel Carver also relays his experiences as a “then Lieutenant”, including having to fight assimilated crewmembers.
The documentary ends on the resolution of the crisis by the USS Enterprise-D, and each participant reflecting on the role of Starfleet and their own takeaways from the events of the day.
