Raven was a professor of alien anthropology and exo-history at Starfleet Academy in the early 25th century who took an interest in ancient artifact hunting. (Star Trek: Phoenix-X, Earth Spacedock)

History

In the early 25th century, Professor Raven taught Elric at Starfleet Academy and did not go "easy" on him. Some many years later, Raven joined Elric on his first expedition to Epsilon Hydra VII, where Elric was able to see him as a normal human being. (Earth Spacedock: Page 71)

In 2410, Raven was retired but had pulled several favours to come to Earth Spacedock to examine an artifact he suspected was 8th century Metron. He was then assimilated and rejected by Mirror Borg, before being found by Elric and rebuilt as a larger drone. (Pages 70-72)
