Chivaul was a martial arts master and teacher at Starfleet Academy. He had a history as a bio scientist, philosopher and theorist and was decorated many times over by the Academy as well as by the Vulcan Science Academy. (Star Trek: Phoenix-X, Earth Spacedock)
History
Sometime in the 24th century, Chivaul worked at the Vulcan Science Academy as a bio scientist. He would later work for Starfleet Academy to teach martial arts.
In the late 2370s, at Starfleet Academy, he taught Neil and Keth who would both become some of his best pupils.
In 2379, he built a battle area on campus grounds. Later, Chivaul was on transit from Vulcan to Earth and became infected by an alien organism. Upon return to Earth, he invited Neil and Keth to spar in the new battle arena. Before the fight, Chivaul mind-melded with a consenting Keth as a test for one of his theories that a person could telekinetically control his own biology. During the fight, Keth morphed and Chivaul's infection caused the Vulcan to seemingly die. ("Evolutions")
In 2404, Chivaul was alive and taught Oroku martial arts, at Starfleet Academy, until Oroku's graduation.
In 2410, after Oroku Seifer was reassigned to Earth Spacedock during the mothballing of the USS Phoenix-X, Chivaul visited him in the Spacedock's food court and initiated a fight challenge. Later, they would fight in the holodeck, where Chivaul would admit to his previous death. In a momentary turn of Seifer's back, Chivaul was kidnapped into Fluidic space.
