Chal, which means Heaven, was a Klingon planet with few land masses present. It was in a binary star system which contained an incansdescent plasma bridge that joined the twin suns.

The inhabitants were a unique hybrid civilization of Klingon and Romulans who were genetically engineered. This race was known as the Chalchaj 'qmey. (The Ashes of Eden)

Eventually, the Chal became Federation members. (ST novel: Avenger)

The USS Enterprise-A disappeared near Chal in 2293 with its saucer section somehow winding up in the Gamma Quadrant. The saucer would be discovered on the planet eventually known as Hogwarts in 2380. The method by which the Enterprise-A saucer wound up on Hogwarts is currently under investigation by multiple Federation agencies. (Harry Potter and the Return of James T. Kirk)
